Time Zone Information

The following tips are mainly for visitors outside the US but also for all those who are confused about the time zone.

There are sometimes misunderstandings about the time zones in the southwest of the USA.

Our tour operators, the ones we recommend, operate on Arizona Mountain Standard Time. It is unclear to some foreign visitors what this means. Unlike many other states in the USA, Arizona has no time change (with a few exceptions) during the summer months. Arizona Mountain Standard Time applies all year round.

This means you can always use the time in Phoenix, Arizona’s capital, or Page. If it is 1 PM (13:00) in Phoenix and Page, then this time also applies to Antelope Canyon all year round.

However, if you are traveling from Utah in the summer, you will have to turn the clock back an hour. But that shouldn’t be a problem either. In the worst-case scenario, you will arrive at Antelope Canyon an hour early. Better too early than too late.

Please keep the following in mind:

Always use the time in Phoenix, the capital of Arizona. This time also applies to Antelope Canyon year-round. If you are traveling from Utah in summer, you must set your watch back one hour.

Time Zone Summary/Facts

  • Arizona’s Time Zone: The state of Arizona operates on Mountain Standard Time (MST) all year round and does not observe Daylight Saving Time.
  • Antelope Canyon and Page, AZ: Although Antelope Canyon is on Navajo land, the tour operators and businesses in Antelope Canyon and the nearby town of Page follow Arizona time (MST) year-round, just like Phoenix.
  • Navajo Nation: While the Navajo Nation does observe Daylight Saving Time, Antelope Canyon is an exception because of its close ties to Page and to minimize confusion for tourists.

Therefore, if it’s 1:00 PM in Phoenix or Page, it’s also 1:00 PM at Antelope Canyon—all year round.

For example, if you visited the Grand Canyon before, keep the following implications in mind:

  • There is no time difference when traveling from the Grand Canyon South Rim to Antelope Canyon. You do not need to adjust your watch. Both locations are at the same time.
  • Ease of Planning: You can plan your activities without worrying about any time zone differences between the Grand Canyon, Page, Antelope Canyon, or other places on Mountain Standard Time (MST).
